There are many free grants that are available for individuals and institutions. Generally free grants are grants provided that does not require the recipient to return the money granted. Free money programs are available through government agencies, corporations, foundations, banks and even some individuals. It is important to know though that traditionally grants do not come without any price tag at all. The key factor in being approved for any types of grants is demonstrating a need and the ability to meet the requirements of the financial assistance being applied for. Basically the price tag for free money is the requirements that you must meet after your receive the money.

When searching for free money do not waste your earnings on the hype for lists that contain all the different grantors’ addresses and requirements. Nor should you expect that you can just receive free grants for anything at all. If you hear a commercial or read a web page that states you can receive free grants to do virtually anything that you want; put the red flags up. Nor should you expect to receive thousands upon thousands of dollars in free grants and multiple grants all at once. The only person that gets rich off of free grants are the people selling the information materials that supposedly list all the information you need to receive your fair share of the government’s money with all of the materials that sell.

There are several types of free grants available. The first of these types of programs are the formula grants. These financial resources are for long term projects and based on a specific formula to allocate resources for funding various projects. Similar to the formula grants are the project grants except the project grants are specifically for a fixed project that will meet the needs of the community or society as a whole such as research project, surveys, construction and so forth. You will also find that there are direct payment free grants available that are either for restricted use or non-restricted use. The direct payment free grants are specifically for a set of goals and objectives that must be met and followed after the payments are received. Traditionally, with these types of financial resources any money that is not used in the specified time period is paid back to the grantee and financial statements are required for how the money was spent.

The process to receive free grants can be long and tedious. Many times people become frustrated with the process and give up. It is possible to get free financial backing for individuals but it requires following the application requirements. Additionally, the individual should show how they will meet the qualifications for the free grants and how the money will be used to meet the goals and obligations made by the grantor. Though technically the money is free, there are obligations and requirements that you must carefully follow to avoid penalties and even charges of fraud. You cannot receive free grants and expect to do whatever you wish once you have the money in hand. It is important to comply with the agreements and obligations that governed the usage of funds given to you as a grant recipient.
